2024 Community Talks!

Everyone Welcome! Join us any Wednesday night for intimate conversations with experienced, heart-centered speakers.  One theme of our transformational programming for adults is be nourished – a theme that speakers will touch on. 

July 10th: The Very Rev. Michael Battle, Ph.D., was ordained a priest by Archbishop Desmond Tutu.  Michael’s global PeaceBattle Institute works on diversity, spirituality, race, and reconciliation.  He is a contemplative with vast clergy and academic experience and is an expert in reconciliation, peace, and justice. 


July 17th: Phil McIntyre-Paul is a co-founder of the Shuswap Trail Alliance, a long-time leader of local hikes, and a former instructor with Thompson Rivers University’s Tourism Management faculty.  He is privileged to live, walk, and play within the Shuswap Lakes region of Secwépemcúĺecw.


July 24th: The Rev. Shawn Sanford Beck is a priest and author of Christian Animism and A Prairie Rune.  As a Spiritual Exploration Guide in St. Andrew’s College’s Lifelong Learning Pathway, Shawn is looking forward to meeting you in the sacred space of the Sorrento Centre.


July 31st: The Ven. Jordan Haynie Ware serves as Archdeacon for Social Justice and Community Connection for the Anglican Diocese of Edmonton, where she is also the rector.  She is the author of The Ultimate Quest: A Geek’s Guide to (the Episcopal) Church.


Aug. 7th:  Rev. Derwyn Costinak served as a Pentecostal pastor and is currently an Anglican priest which provides him with an eclectic background for leading courses.  He loves to add outdoor activities and racing simulations to his work as a priest and military chaplain.


Time: 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Location: St. Francis outdoor chapel at Sorrento Retreat and Conference Centre, 1159 Passchendaele Road. 

Parking: Bring a lawn chair. Park at Sorrento Memorial Hall near our Centre sign, and follow signs to outdoor chapel! 

Feel free to stay for outdoor evening service at 8:30 pm.
