DESCRIPTION:\n\nJoin us at Sorrento Centre’s private lakefront property for a heartwarming New Year’s Community Celebration that embodies the spirit of inclusivity and connection❤️\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis is a free event. Registration is not required. Anyone and everyone near and far is welcome to join us to celebrate the New Year!\n\n\n\nYou can expect a warm and welcoming lakeside campfire, delightful treats of marshmallows and hot chocolate, and an optional ‘out with the old, in the new’ activity: we invite you to dive into the festivities-whether you choose to take the exhilarating cold plunge into the lake or to simply come and enjoy the cozy atmosphere and the scenic lake view with friends and family, new and old.\n\n\n\nFood donations to support and replenish the Sorrento Food Bank will be gratefully accepted. Click here to see what the Sorrento Food Bank needs most!\n\n\n\nWhat the Centre will provide:\n\n\n\n\nA continuous campfire and propane heaters.\n\n\n\nA couple of logs and a few picnic tables around the fire pit for seating. \n\n\n\nMarshmallows, hot chocolate, cups, and roasting sticks.\n\n\n\nChanging rooms and an outhouse, which are enclosed but not heated. These are conveniently located lakeside.\n\n\n\nPaper and pen for the ‘out with the old, in with the new’ activity.\n\n\n\n\n*All activities are optional, and the cold plunge is weather-dependent. If the lake freezes over, we will be unable to take the plunge. We will update our website regarding the condition of the lake closer to the event date.\n\n\n\nWhat to bring with you:\n\n\n\n\nA chair to ensure you have a comfortable seat. \n\n\n\nFeel free to bring your own refreshments, treats, roasting sticks, and food items to roast.\n\n\n\nA blanket\n\n\n\nA warm jacket, toque, and mitts\n\n\n\n\nTaking the plunge? Here’s a list of what else we recommend you bring or come dressed in:\n\n\n\n\nSwimwear\n\n\n\nClothing that is warm and loose for a quick easy change before and afterwards.\n\n\n\nShoes you don’t mind getting wet. The beach is rocky. Shoes to wear into the water are highly recommended.\n\n\n\nShoes/Footwear that is warm and cozy for afterwards.\n\n\n\nTowels (as many as you need for you and your group)\n\n\n\nAs many blankets as you want\n\n\n\n\nPark at the lakeside property, or you are welcome to park at the Sorrento Centre’s main campus and walk the forest trail down to the beach.
