Phase two of Solar for Spes

Calling all friends of the Sorrento Centre, those who love our Mother Earth and people who love clean and green and abundant solar energy! We launched phase two of our Solar for Spes campaign! 

Phase one went live on May 1 with 19 solar panels on the roof of our iconic administration building Spes Bona. In the first full month of operation, we generated an impressive 805.98 kWh of clean, green energy. Our panels were so productive that on ten days during May, we generated more energy than we used. This net negative consumption meant that we were sending power back into the BC Hydro grid. Good for us, good for our neighbours, good for the environment! The first phase was funded by 21 individual donors, plus a grant from SASCU credit union. 

Phase two will be bigger and even better! We’re adding another 19 panels on Spes Bona. The new panels will boost our annual production by 9,500 kWh / year. We’re also adding a charging station for electric vehicles – good for our guests, good for the environment, good for the Sorrento Centre.
