Climate crisis: in two numbers
A high and a low
No one should doubt the terrible impact of human-induced climate change in terms of generating extreme weather.
Six months ago on June 30th, the day-time temperature reached plus 42C (triggering droughts and forest fires and then mudslides and flooding into the fall, with a catastrophic collapse of highways throughout the interior).
This morning (December 27), the day-time temperature was minus 35C with the wind chill (triggering who knows what catastrophic events).
The extreme weather is sending two signals:
First, it’s time to double down on climate justice globally and locally.
Second, we need to fall back in love with Mother Nature as a first step towards restoring a good and loving relationship between humans and the beautiful, though wounded, world around us.
Let this be our New Year’s resolution for one and all!
