Cyclists take on a heat wave

And stay cool at Sorrento Centre

Just prior to a record-breaking heatwave hitting the province at the end of June 2021, the team at Sorrento Centre welcomed a happy, healthy and hearty group of cyclists for five days. Ready to take on the day and anxious to get started in the cooler morning air, they arose bright and early each day to take in the beauty of this area of British Columbia.

Some camped, some stayed in our lodges and all enjoyed good food and the warm hospitality that is Sorrento Centre.

We look forward seeing you all again here at the centre for more CCCTS Hub & Spoke retreats later this year, and next year too!

Based from spacious and comfortable Sorrento Centre on Shuswap Lake, 18 CCCTS members explored the quiet paved backroads of the Shuswap – North Okanagan. 13 cycling routes, ranging from 40K to 60K to 80K, were offered over the 5-day Hub & Spoke led by new Club member, Pat Hutchins of Salmon Arm, Carol and Glen Evans of Tsawwassen and Jeanetta and George Zorn of Salmon Arm.Four adventurous members self-guided to get an early start for longer routes.

Afternoon swims in Shuswap Lake at the Centre’s beach cooled us down on mid-30s C days. Happy Hour local veggies, crackers and dips, fresh strawberries and the Centre’s fine dinners set us up for the next day’s cycling adventures.

The “heat dome” scorcher arrived on June 25 as we departed.keyboard_arrow_left
