Artist Trading Cards
$400/week. Course fee $150 plus the $250 Activity Fee
Artist trading cards (ATCs) is a conceptual art project initiated by Swiss artist M. Vänçi Stirnemann in 1997. He called it a Collaborative Cultural Performance. Artist trading cards are 2.5 by 3.5 inches in size, the same format as sports trading cards. They are unique works or small series, signed and dated on the reverse by the artist, exchanged and collected by others. They are not to be sold and can be created with any medium or material. Join us as we create a collection using a variety of approaches (watercolour, mixed media, collage and more) that, once learned, can be applied to any of our creative pursuits.
We may even create a structure to store our ATCs. ATC’s make unique gifts, can be attached to the face of greeting cards or postcards or framed individually or as a group.
Over the course of the week, we will create, trade and finally collaborate on a group project to mark and celebrate Sorrento Centre’s 60th Anniversary incorporating this summer’s theme of Homecoming. What does ‘homecoming’ mean to you? What imagery does it evoke? Be ready to share your responses!
