- Jordan Haynie Ware
The Ven. Jordan Haynie Ware serves as Archdeacon for Social Justice and Community Connection for the Anglican Diocese of Edmonton, where she is also the rector of Good Shepherd Anglican Church. She is the author The Ultimate Quest: A Geek’s Guide to (the Episcopal) Church, and co-host of the Two Feminists series of podcasts – not only do they annotate the Bible, but also take inspiration from women in Christian history with Two Feminists Annotate the Beatified. Jordan is originally from Texas, as you’ll be able to tell by the many “y’alls” and “fixin’ tos” peppering her speech and her love of spicy food, and she lives in Edmonton with her husband, an Education Specialist at the Telus World of Science, and their enormous greyhound.

Defiance: Feminist Lessons from Scripture Today
$340/week. Course fee $90 plus the $250 Activity fee
Too often, “biblical womanhood” has been a term defined by submission and meekness, used to keep women in their place. Jordan Haynie Ware, of podcast Two Feminists Annotate the Bible has found through her studies that this just doesn’t match the Scriptures as written. Rather, the women of Scripture, and God’s interactions with them, have strikingly modern feminist lessons for women, men, and all people. Join her for a week of study on these often ignored, and even intentionally swept aside characters. Men welcome, too!
We’ll learn more about hermeneutics, especially feminist, queer, post-colonial, and other lens on Scripture from marginalized communities, and you’ll leave equipped to practice your discipleship as feminist followers of Jesus.
