Nathan LeRudNathan LeRud, Dean of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Portland, Oregon, fell in love with musicals at age seven when taken to see a college production of Camelot. He memorized every note of the original cast recording and (as a boy soprano with freakish range) learned to sing all of Julie Andrews’ numbers. A double major in English and Theatre, favorite roles include Tevye in Fiddler, Pangloss in Candide, Mabel Swindle in Radio Gals.
Peter ElliotPeter Elliott, is adjunct faculty at Vancouver School of Theology and a coach and consultant in private practice. Dean of Christ Church Cathedral in Vancouver from 1994-2019, Peter has loved musical theatre for his whole life. At age 12 he appeared as Oliver Twist in a semi-professional production of Oliver! With Nathan he hosts the popular podcast Gospel According to Musical Theatre.
Gospel of Musical Theatre: Race and Redemption

Following up the popular Sorrento summer 2019 course The Gospel According to Musical Theatre, Sorrento Centre presents a new — and different — opportunity to explore the structure and history of musical theatre, reflecting theologically on how gospel themes are conveyed, with particular attention to issues of race, representation, and redemption.
Join with others in hearing presentations and having discussions about some of your favourite musicals, discover some new shows—and be surprised by how often issues of race and representation find their place in this perennially popular art form.
