Shuswap Community Response Network (SCRN)

As part of the BC Association of Community Response Networks, the Shuswap Community Response Network continues to grow to include other interested member agencies and organizations. Sorrento Retreat and Conference Centre is the host agency, partner, sponsor, and a member of the Shuswap Community Response Network which meets once a month to help connect organizations, neighbours, and others in the area, to facilitate networking and perhaps some collaborative projects.

A Community Response Network (CRN) brings people together to discuss the issue of adult abuse, neglect, and self-neglect to:

  • Raise awareness and educate the public through workshops, presentations, and conferences.
  • Work toward prevention.
  • Build relationships leading to protocol development so everyone will know who can help.
  • Assess how the community’s response is working to continuously make it better.
Communities served by the Shuswap Community Response Nework include: Sorrento, Blind Bay, Notch Hill, Eagle Bay, Tappen, Sunnybrae, White Lake, Chase, Anglemont, Adams Lake, Seymour Arm, Lee Creek, Scotch Creek, Celista, Magna Bay, St. Ives.

The Shuswap Community Response Network brings together groups and individuals in the Shuswap who have regular, ongoing contact with potentially vulnerable adults as part of their day. This includes agencies, businesses, social groups, faith communities, and interested individuals too.

The network also hosts prevention and education activities with local stakeholders to build a coordinated response to abuse, neglect and self-neglect of vulnerable adults.
