Social Justice inFocus
Youth Program & Activity Fee (Ages 11-18): Cost: $110/week which includes the Activity fee
This course empowers teens to learn, discuss, play, and work collaboratively while engaging with the community around them. Many of the participants in this age group continue their path at Sorrento Centre as summer youth staff or taking part in LEAP and WYLD when they are offered.
The Youth Council of PWRDF is inviting youth to join them this summer at the Sorrento Centre to take a focused look at social justice through the lens of the climate. In this series you will go on the journey of a pizza, learning about food security and food sovereignty, whilst looking at the impact of climate issues and concerns locally, nationally, and globally. We will identify the intersection of the concerns and realities of this impact and what can be done.

Robyn Sulkko is a member of the PWRDF Youth Council and is passionate about youth empowerment, social and environmental justice, and finds herself feeling closest to God when she is adventuring amongst the lakes and trees of Northern Ontario. Robyn has been involved in youth empowerment and advocacy since she was 12 and has been heavily involved in her parish since moving to Ottawa from Thunder Bay in 2017. She hopes that in her volunteer and professional work she can show people the power and of their voices and value of their experiences so they can find what they are passionate about and use their voices to enact change in their communities.
