10:30 WORKSHOP Keeping Seniors Safe Abuse and neglect of seniors take many forms. Participants learn how to identify suspicious signs and symptoms. We review potential causes, intervention techniques, and where to find help. Doug Edgar is a retired teacher from Prince George; Past President of BC Retired Teachers’ Assn.; recent RCMP Volunteer; Powerhouse Theatre devotee; Seniors’ Health & Wellness Institute facilitator. 45 minutes or more depending on questions and participation. 12:45 INDIGENOUS STORY TELLING Ralph McBryan is an Elder of the Little Shuswap Lake band and is proud to represent his community in the best possible way and teach all people about his culture and traditions through his stories. A lot of his stories have a deep meaning and teachings of how things come to pass or why things are the way they are. “In the best way I can tell you about me is I have been taught to tell our stories and remember our own history of my family as a knowledge keeper storyteller and teacher of culture of my people.” |
