- The Ven. Jordan Haynie Ware - Biography
The Ven. Jordan Haynie Ware serves as Archdeacon for Social Justice and Community Connection for the Anglican Diocese of Edmonton, where she is also the rector of Good Shepherd Anglican Church. She is the author The Ultimate Quest: A Geek’s Guide to (the Episcopal) Church, and co-host of the Two Feminists series of podcasts – not only do they annotate the Bible, but also take inspiration from women in Christian history with Two Feminists Annotate the Beatified. Jordan is originally from Texas, as you’ll be able to tell by the many “y’alls” and “fixin’ tos” peppering her speech and her love of spicy food, and she lives in Edmonton with her husband, an Education Specialist at the Telus World of Science, and their enormous greyhound.

The Lord’s Prayer
The Lord’s Prayer is at the heart of the Christian faith. Christians around the world pray it every day in thousands of languages.
This prayer of Jesus is always on our lips. But how can we incorporate this prayer better into our lives? How can we live as if this is God’s central prayer for the world?
Join The Ven. Jordan Haynie Ware, Archdeacon for Justice, and feminist biblical theologian, as she takes inspiration from liberation theologian Leonardo Boff in exploring the God described by Jesus’s prayer, and how it can inspire daily practices of liberation for ourselves, our communities, and the world.
Participants will use their whole bodies to engage in the work of study, art, prayer, and action to make Jesus’s prayer not just words but daily practice.
During her 5-week artist residency in Sorrento in 2013, Susanne Cruickshank completed 6 Abba prayer paintings. The paintings were donated to Sorrento Retreat and Conference Centre, where the artist hoped that they would contribute to a further understanding of the Abba prayer for others. The original paintings are 24” X 36” mixed media, including acrylics and collages. Some of the paintings will be incorporated into this course and we express our gratitude to Susanne!
Below is one of the six original paintings completed by Susanne.
