Celebrating summer solstice on our main campus

Secwepemc story-teller Kenthen Thomas gave us the gift of a beautiful story as Wild Church BC gathered for an outdoor event at our main campus on Sunday. We marked the summer solstice – an important day to say thank you to the beautiful world around us. It was also one day before National Indigenous Peoples’ Day. The small group gathered safely with all the health protocols in place on the waterfront of the Sorrento Centre’s main campus to receive a story from Kenthen, then reflect on the grace and glory of the water, plants, trees, hills and mountains around us.

The Sorrento Centre is in Secwépemc’ulucw – the traditional and unceded territory of the Secwepemc people, who have lived on this land, practiced virtues of harmony and generosity and shared stories since time immemorial.
