Don and his wife Sherri are long-time friends of the Centre, having owned and operated the Shuswap Motel and Resort for over 25 years. While being our beloved neighbours they also became a vital part of the Sorrento Centre community. There was a fond rivalry and friendship for many years.
Last fall, (in the year 2022) he was attending a workshop here at the centre, and we were able to catch up with Don for a quick chat about, among other things, why he keeps coming back to Sorrento Centre. Turns out some of it is his love for music and of course, we have music! This musician loves the blues, and loves that Sorrento Centre is the home of the Nimblefingers Bluegrass festival – one of the largest banjo festivals around!
“Usually, we have beautiful weather and a lake that is fantastic to play on. Beautiful grass all over the place. Lots of camping, lots of cabins and whatnot.” Perfect for hosting festivals, workshops and everything in between. We are a nature lover’s paradise.
Don wanted to add for people who haven’t heard of Sorrento Centre before: “Check on their website, see what it’s all about. Come in, you know it’s going to be a fun place to go to.”
