Plenty of reasons to give thanks

Thanksgiving weekend at the Sorrento Centre

Thanksgiving Weekend in 2020 is a time of gathering at the Sorrento Centre (small and COVID-compliant gathering in these pandemic times). Our Associates, our most dedicated friends, gather for work and for a time of reflection. There is busyness all over our main campus and farm – with tasks ranging from chopping firewood for the winter, raking the fall leaves, refreshing the ornamental gardens to bigger projects such as the renovation of cabana 7 (a Taylor clan collaboration), painting and caulking in various places and the installation of 32 additional solar panels on the roof of Spes Bona.

We have plenty for which to give thanks at the Sorrento Centre: Our beautiful home in the South Shuswap on the traditional and unceded territory of the Secwepemc people (the forests, orchards, waterfront, fields, farm and buildings); our people (our small but dedicated staff team, our wonderful group of friends and volunteers and our delightful neighbours); our life and work (expressed in events and activities throughout the year).

The brilliant Katherine Murray has been leading us through contemplative prayer to nourish our spirits as we use our bodies to nourish our land and buildings.
