Signposts: Walking the land

The Sorrento Centre launched our Signposts initiative with the Switzmalph Cultural Society earlier today – starting with a walk-about of our main campus. Drawing on the wonderful legacy of Secwepemc elder and botanist Dr. Mary Thomas, the cultural society is working with our Centre to create signs in English and Secwepemc that introduce plants, bushes, and trees to our guests and visitors.

The signs will include a QR code for links to more detailed scientific and cultural information about the plants. We plan to install the signs early this summer – and will invite Secwepemc and other leaders to join in this wonderful initiative.
