The road to Emmaus

Sometimes it takes time to truly understand

One of my absolute favourite pieces at the Sorrento Centre is Susanne Cruickshank’s painting of the story of the road to Emmaus (told in Luke chapter 24). This photo, taken on a phone camera, doesn’t do justice to the original piece of art. We have lots of arts and crafts around the Sorrento Centre – and everything is special in its own way. All the beautiful quilt and fibre arts pieces handmade by many different artists, the Celtic cross made by Bud Forbes and so much more…

Susanne was artist-in-residence at the Sorrento Centre when she created a series of paintings gifted to our Centre. The road to Emmaus tells the story of the dawning of understanding among some of the early followers of Jesus about the truly mysterious and wonderful meaning of the Easter story of death and resurrection.

Thank you, Susanne…
