Toe-tapping acoustic fun!
Music in the heart of Sorrento
Posted May 1, 2022 – Here at Sorrento Centre, it’s been quieter than usual these past years. Because… well… you know. But that’s about to change as the beautiful sounds of music and laughter rise up from our playing fields and bandstand and every campsite!
Join the fun!
If you are in the area in mid-June you will hear the happy friendly notes of the ukulele floating out as we welcome The Ukulele Orchestra of Kamloops as they gather for their annual Summer Ukulele Festival. This sold-out event is the perfect kick off to our summer of music and joy.
Perhaps swing music is more your style – if so, you won’t want to miss out on the friendly BC Swing Camp – back again in August for five days of music and dance! People do not come to swing camp to sleep! There are seminars and workshops dedicated to Brazilian music (boss, samba, choro), more contemporary jazz, blues, percussion, vocal harmony, improv, and many other aspects of jazz.
Listen to that! Can you hear that twang of the banjo and the boom boom boom of the acoustic bass? That’s the sound of the joyful and foot-stomping fun at the NimbleFingers Bluegrass & Old-Time Workshops and Festival back again for two weeks of band scrambles, student and instructor concerts, campground jam sessions, hosted jams, bluegrass karaoke and old-time dances! Two separate weeks of workshops are offered and many of the participants stay for both. It’s a great chance to connect with your musical community, and immerse yourself in music, songs and stories.
Right here, in the heart of Sorrento!
