St Michael and All Angels Cathedral in Kelowna was packed to the rafters on Thursday evening as our new Bishop, the Right Rev’d Lynne McNaughton, followed the ancient tradition of approaching the doors and knocking three times. The people inside shouted their enthusiastic support for Bishop Lynne, and she was fully installed. Earlier, the Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada, Fred Hiltz, said of the installation of Bishop Lynne that the people of the Diocese of Kootenay (which includes the Sorrento Centre) are rejoicing, the people of the Ecclesiastical Province of BC and Yukon are rejoicing, and the people across the Anglican Church of Canada are rejoicing with our new Bishop (in their first year in office, Bishops are affectionately referred to as “baby Bishops”).
Here at the Sorrento Centre, we are exceedingly proud of our deep roots in the Anglican tradition even as we embrace a generosity of welcome that is ecumenical, inter-faith and anxious to engage with our neighbours locally, nationally and internationally.
