Young Sojouners – 2022

Better together!

A whole week has gone by and we so very much miss the sounds and energy several dozen youth brought to Sorrento Centre when the Young Sojourners arrived en masse by the busload last weekend.

Sorrento Centre was full of life as we welcomed youth and youth leaders from all over British Columbia and Alberta for a weekend filled with fun activities, worship, and adventure. It is the first time since 2019 for our spring program for teens.

Forty participants explored the theme of “Better Together” with the leadership of Christian Harvey, Executive Director of One City Peterborough. Our Youth Program Manager, Tammy Gibbs, built an amazing event with the support of the rest of our hard-working staff.

During the weekend the weather decided to cooperate and the young peope were able to dip their toes in the cold lake, have a campfire at Kekuli and play soccer!

We have received such an outpour of love, support, and positive messages from our lively visitors, some have even asked if they could come and work here in the Summer – and who wouldn’t want to work at Sorrento Centre this summer

Young Sojourners weekend was truly unforgettable. We are grateful for the opportunity to be the gathering place where new friendships were formed, beautiful memories were made, and fruitful input and experience was given to the youth. We hope to see some of those lovely faces back here in the summer and next year when we do this all over again!
